Blog Post # 11
Back in 2018, I experienced a financial crisis that happened during the time that I was scattering around the states of California and Colorado. Because I wasn't really working, I struggled to buy meals for myself, even while being out of state. For example, while staying with an older friend in Ventura, California, I could barely afford to buy noodles or bread, and this caused me to go into a hunger mode. Another example of my financial instability was not being able to afford my own shelter after running out of money from a hotel stay with my brother and his friends. As both of these incidents happened in the same year, I realized that sometimes things just happen but no matter what it is, can still affect one's mental health. A financial decline did increase my depression and affect my overall mental side and impairment. I felt more upset to be around others and only felt ignored because I didn't receive the sufficient assistance to cope and survive in the environments I either visited or went by. As of now, I still remain on Social security and work part-time, but I am still not fully getting by as expected. To achieve this goal, I will need to find ways to increase my income in the near future, as this will get my mood better and this is how part of my mental side in the past was affected overall. Money is another factor that can hurt a person's mood and without it, life could be less enjoyable.
